Back in 2018, we covered the abduction of Tom Hagen wife Ann Elisabeth Hagen, a Norwegian billionaire (in norwegian krone). The police changed the status from abduction to murder in June 2019. Now the police have arrested the billionaire himself but was later forced to release him due to an appeal from his lawyer that its less than 50 % chance that he can be proven guilty for the crime with the evidence provided by the police. Tom Hagen denies that he has anything do with the disappearance of his wife.
He is still under investigation from the police. The day before Tom Hagen was released from prison, the police arrested what is described by some newspapers as a “crypto expert”. The person has been very active on at least one digital platform where Norwegian crypto enthusiast discusses different cryptocurrencies and news within the crypto community. To our knowledge it was nothing suspicious about his activity but according to VG, there was one post that was about criminal activities such as kidnapping.
This is what we know about the suspect:
- He is in his early 30s
- He have had up to 10 meetings with Tom Hagen according to NRK
- He worked as an IT-consultant
According to his lawyer, the crypto expert denies that he has anything to do with the abduction of Ann Elisabeth Hagen.
The ransom was demanded in Monero and that is why we KryptovalutaInvestor.com – a Norwegian based crypto site covered this topic when the abduction was made public by the police, 3 months after it happened. There is very little information about the transaction. What we know is that the family of Ann Elisabeth have had a form of communication with the abductors through bitcoin transactions. It is not known to the public how much money they have sent to the abductors of if they have paid any large amounts.
